AGAPE
Children Christian Ministry
The Christian Foundation for Children “Agape”, as the name shows it, is a Christian Foundation having it’s primary purpose creating a family environment for children without families, helping them to have a relevant and integrated life in society, in a way that reflects God’s character and in agreement with the value that God gave to man, in conformity with Christian evangelical teaching.
We believe that all children have the right to be helped in overcoming the critical moments in their lives, to receive help from services, to receive spiritual, moral, cultural and instructive support, so that their sincere smile may not be shadowed.
The materialization of the desire to be involved in this activity, in an organized medium, was possible immediately after 1989. A group of Christians with opened hearts towards helping children decided to work as a team and get involved in this activity.
Through hard work, we endeavoured to make known our desires for Agape to different possible supporters belonging to the civil society in our country and from abroad, supporters who would understand the great and urgent need to offer a chance to all children.
This is the way in which Agape began the building of a generous and modern place to meet the children’s needs. The whole process lasted for about 4 years; the work finished in 1994. The building has an area for the orphans or those children who do not have a family environment and an area for the kindergarten with a normal 4 hour programme and a longer 8 hour programme. The idea of putting together these two areas came from the desire to avoid the isolation of the orphans and the stigma that could arise from this isolation.
Among the personalities touched by the problem of the children in Romania were Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand, originally Christians from Romania, who, because of their belief in God’s existence, spent many years in communists’ prisons. Through the organization they were in charge of, International Christian Association (ICA), our foundation received important help both during the process of building as well as after the completion.
Another organization that offered a consistent help was The Humanitarian Organization Grenlandsaksjonen Norway, being involved both in the building process and also in helping those children who have special problems.
The Christian Foundation for Children Agape still needs help and support, and we hope that there will be people, communities, organizations who are sensitive to our needs. We trust that God, in whose hand all things are, will take care of us in the future as He has in the past.
The main projects of our Foundation are:
1. The Orphanage - AGAPE House
2. Youth Center - Crinilor House
4. Agape Foundation - cultural and instructive center
In all its activity, The Christian Foundation for Children AGAPE has a good partnership with local and central authorities, with the private and public schools, with other similar organizations or ONGs (non-governmental organizations), having all the permits the actual law requires.
"Cor 13.1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity."
